For CAS teams
Monthly reporting for client accounting services teams
CAS teams close the books for dozens of clients, and each client then expects a monthly financial reporting package: statements, flux analysis, KPIs and an A/R aging. The close is standardised; the package usually isn't. Magic MIS standardises it.

Where CAS reporting time actually goes
Most CAS leaders know how long the close takes; fewer measure the package. The hidden costs:
- Workbooks per client that drift apart as different staff edit them.
- New GL accounts that break a link or quietly fall out of a subtotal.
- Flux commentary written from scratch every month, often by the most senior person on the engagement.
- Client questions after the package goes out: where does this number come from?
One standard package across every client
- Common report lines. Each client's chart of accounts is placed once on the same lines, so every package reads the same way.
- A monthly refresh. After the close, upload the trial balance. Only new GL accounts need placing; everything else lands where it did last month.
- Checks. The run confirms the trial balance ties and the statements agree before the workbook is delivered.
- Flux drafted. The commentary picks out material movements by its own threshold and drafts the number, the comparison and the ledgers behind each. The AI writes the words; the engine fills every number from the GL.
- Review. Your reviewer adds the reasons only the client knows, copying the commentary into the firm's own document to edit. The package is a prepared report for the firm to review and sign off, not an opinion.
- Delivery. A checked Excel workbook, and a read-only link the client can open on a phone and you can withdraw at any time.
A flux line, drafted and reviewed
For an invented client:
Professional fees were $14,300 in June, up $8,900 (164.8%) on May.
The reviewer clicks the figure to see the accounts behind it, finds the annual audit fee accrual, and adds that reason before the package goes out.
The limits, for a CAS team, said plainly
- One login per account. There are no team seats, roles or client portals, so preparer and reviewer workflows happen outside the product. For a large CAS team that matters.
- No live connection. You upload the trial balance after the close; nothing refreshes on a schedule.
- No consolidation of related entities.
- Not an engagement letter. Where to act gives suggestions to consider, not tax, legal or audit advice; your engagement terms govern what the firm advises.
Prepaid credits, no subscription and no per-client plan: every action shows its price before it runs, and each company you keep has a monthly memory fee. See the credit packs.
What CAS leaders ask
Which GL systems work?
Any that exports a trial balance: QuickBooks Online and Desktop, Xero, NetSuite, Sage and more.
Can we use our own package layout?
Accounts are placed on report lines you can change on the ledger map, the dashboard changes by asking, and the workbook is yours to keep and edit.
How is client data protected?
Each file is encrypted under a key belonging to that company alone. No person on our side can open it, every opening is recorded where you can see it, and deleting the company destroys its key.
Does it handle cash-basis clients?
It reports what is in the trial balance. State the basis on the cover so the flux explanations are read correctly.
