A chatbot writes figures. Magic MIS computes them.
The model inside Magic MIS is a leading general model, of the kind you already chat with. What is different is everything around it: an engine that does the arithmetic, checks that run before anything is delivered, a memory of your company, and a wall between the model and your files.
| What is compared | An AI chatbot | Magic MIS |
|---|---|---|
| Every figure | Written by the model, the same way it writes the words around it | Computed by an engine from your trial balance; the AI never writes a number |
| Checks | None, unless you add it up again yourself | The trial balance ties and the statements agree before anything is delivered |
| Where a number came from | You take its word for it | Every figure opens its formula and the ledgers behind it |
| Next month | Start again: paste the file, explain the layout, check it all | Add the month's file; the mapping is remembered, and an unchanged chart of accounts calls no AI at all |
| Your file | The whole file, names and all, goes to the model | Encrypted under the company's own key; the AI sees redacted fragments, never a whole file |
| What you get | An answer in a chat window | An Excel workbook with live formulas, a dashboard, commentary, Where to act, Present, a PDF and a share link |
| How you pay | Usually a monthly subscription | Prepaid credits per action, no subscription |
How is Magic MIS different from asking ChatGPT or another AI assistant?
A general AI assistant is built to write, so it writes the figures too, predicted the same way as the words around them and just as confident when they are wrong. Magic MIS splits the job. A deterministic engine reads your trial balance, maps every ledger to a report head once, computes every figure and checks that the trial balance ties and the statements agree before anything is delivered. The AI does only what it is good at: recognising a sheet's layout, placing a ledger the rules cannot, and answering questions and writing commentary around figures the engine fills in. You get a checked Excel workbook with live formulas, a dashboard you build by chatting, and commentary, with every number traceable to its ledgers, your company remembered from month to month, and your files encrypted while the AI sees only redacted fragments.
Does Magic MIS use AI too?
Yes: leading general-purpose models, chosen for each task by how hard you want it to think. The difference is what the AI is allowed to do. It never outputs a number. Wherever it writes about a figure it leaves a placeholder that the engine fills from your books, and a check refuses any text carrying a figure the engine did not supply. It never sees a whole file, and the names of your customers, suppliers and employees are replaced with tokens before anything reaches it.
Can I not just upload my trial balance to an AI chatbot myself?
You can, and for a one-off look it may be enough. For a report you put your name to every month, three things go wrong. The figures are generated rather than calculated, so a total can be off with nothing to show it. Nothing is remembered, so next month the ledgers are read again and can land under different heads, and the comparison with last month quietly breaks. And the whole file, names included, goes to the model. Those are the three things this product was built to remove.
Will the AI make up a figure that is not in my books?
No. A figure it cannot point to in the months you loaded is one it cannot write, because every figure is filled in by the engine. Asked about data you have not loaded, the chat says so instead of estimating. Where the board projects the year, that projection is worked out by the engine and marked as a forecast wherever it appears.
Your books stay yours: encrypted, redacted and opened by no one on our side
Who can open my files?
No person on our side. Each file is encrypted the moment it arrives, under a key unique to that company, and it is opened only for something you start, such as a run or a download. Every opening is recorded where you can see it, under the company's Files and settings. Deleting the company destroys its key, so what is left can never be read.
What exactly does the AI see?
Only what the task needs, redacted first: a sheet's structure, a few sample rows, the names of ledgers and, for a chat question, the result of the query it asked for. Never a whole file. Customer, supplier and employee names, email addresses, phone numbers and bank and tax identifiers are replaced with tokens before anything leaves our server.
Is my financial data used to train AI models?
No. Your data is not used to train AI models. What is sent to a model for an action you pay for is redacted first and is never a whole file.
Where is my data kept?
Your account, files and figures are stored in London, in the United Kingdom. The privacy notice names every company that processes data for us, what it receives and where it works.
The whole of it, stated exactly, is on security and data handling.
Each month: a checked workbook, a board to present, and answers on demand
What do I get each month?
A validated Excel workbook with live formulas and the source of every cell; a dashboard you can arrange by chatting, present full screen, save as a PDF or share as a read-only link; commentary on what moved and why; and Where to act, suggestions for what to do about it. A chat beside the board answers questions about any figure, and each figure in an answer opens its working.
Can I present it to my board or send it to a client?
Yes. Present shows the board full screen, with presenter notes on a second screen if you want them. Save as PDF prints the board as you arranged it, every page stamped with when its figures were computed. Or send a read-only link to a copy of the board: it opens on a phone as well as a computer, expires, and can be withdrawn at any time.
Can it compare against a budget, or forecast the year?
Yes. Load a budget and the board, the chat, the commentary and Where to act read against it, each budget figure marked as one. The board can also project the year from the months you have, by run rate or by season, worked out by the engine and marked as a forecast.
Can I build my own dashboard?
Yes, by saying what you want in the chat: a comparison with last year, a trend, a table, a figure worked out your own way. The change appears as the reply arrives, with Undo. A library of standard KPIs adds the ones the engine already computes in one click, at no charge.
Prepaid credits, no subscription, and month two is a refresh
How is Magic MIS priced?
With prepaid credits, bought in packs and valid for 12 months. There is no subscription and no per-seat fee. Each action has a standard price in credits, shown before you press it, and a job that needs more shows a quote first. Each company you keep has a monthly memory fee.
Can I try it before I buy credits?
New accounts start with 1,500 free credits, enough to set up one company on your own books at its standard price: one grant per person or business, not for throwaway email addresses. There is no card to enter and nothing to cancel: the credits are added at your first sign-in, or a later one, and are valid for 90 days, and every action shows its price before you press it. After that you buy credits in packs, valid for 12 months, and each company you keep has a monthly memory fee.
Why does a monthly refresh cost less than the first month?
Because the hard part is done once. The first run reads your layout and maps every ledger to a report head; next month that mapping is reused, and on an unchanged chart of accounts no AI is called at all.
The packs are on credit packs.
Built for any business, any accounting system and any country
Who is Magic MIS for?
Owners who want the month explained, finance teams who report to a board, and bookkeepers and accountants who prepare monthly reports for clients. Once you have bought credits, one account can hold as many companies as you need, each with its own books, board and settings.
Does it work in my country and currency?
Yes. It is sold worldwide. Each company keeps its own currency, financial year, date order and number format (full figures, millions, or lakhs and crores), and its commentary can be written in a language you choose. It reads the raw export of any accounting system, with no connector to install.
Does it work on a phone?
The product is built for a desktop browser, such as Chrome, Edge or Firefox, because a month's books are worked on at a desk. A board you share by link opens on a phone, and so does every page of this site.
